Cedric is piercer at Steelbox. Steelbox is has been located in the city center of Montpellier since 1999. They offer a warm and professional welcome. I knew this place from when I used to live in France as it is where I got my own piercing made and so did a lot of my friends. 

In Montpellier, Cedric is known for his piercing tattoos and authentic style. I went to the shop and explained him my project he thought it was a nice idea and accepted to get his photo taken. As I did at Arcanes Labo, I first took portraits go him in the shop but also in front of it. I really wanted to show he face tattoo which I found very intriguing. 

The most successful photo is probably this one. He is looking in the camera so we have that eye contact which is important in photography but you can also see his tattoos and piercing. He looks  more natural and the fact that his head is tilted maybe his with that natural look.

At first, people can be quite surprised and judgmental seeing him, as he doesn't have a normal look that suits the social standards but after talking with him I can tell he is a very nice and even shy man.

The rest of the photos were taken while he was piercing someone.They were quite hard to capture as the space was very small with a very hard light source.

I also took some photos using a mirror behind him in the shop. I though it was an interesting composition to see his tattoo on the side of his face but when you look in mirror you realise there's more behind, you discover slowly while looking more at the photo. 

It is a shame I didn't get his face in the frame as the eyes and emotions are very important for my project. It is a personal favourite photo that I won't select for my 10 Final photos.
