Fethi - Place de la Comedie

Above are digital contact sheets of Fethi, using Bridge.

This is Fethi and he's been playing the guitar at 'Place de la Comedy' for more than 30 years now. If you go to Montpellier one day, I would strongly recommend you to go there early in the morning when it's not to busy, enjoy a nice coffee and listen to the beautiful music Fethi shares with the people.

I listened to him for a bit and when I felt the time was right I one to see him to present my project and see if he was comfortable with his photo being taken. He talked to me a lot, about music, social media, the city of Montpellier... the conversation was full of various subjects. He also told me he really appreciated me asking him to take his photo before doing it. Because sometimes people just walk pass him take some photos without asking then leave, and he his very frustrated by that.

Before taking any photos I showed him a photo that my uncle took of him 30 years ago and it made him very nostalgic. here is the picture below :

After this long but very nice conversation he played a song and told me I could take           photos of him while he was playing.

I took a photo at the exact same angle as my uncle to really see the similarities and differences between these two photos. I realised he had the exact same hat and the same kind of outfit then 30 years. I told myself the only difference is the colour of his beard : from black beard to white beard.

My favourite photo within this series of portrait is the one below. I just captured the moment when he was looking up and you can see the emotion in his eyes while he plays the guitar. In terms of composition, the buildings behind him are leading u to him, which is good as guiding lines. The fact that these buildings are visible and not out focus helps the viewer to understand we are in France, with the French architecture and French windows.
