Nicolas - Record store

Above are contact sheets of photos I took in a record store in France called 'Le Comptoir du disque'

Nicolas is the owner of two record store in Montpellier and this one is the most famous one in the city. I'm really glad I met him. He was a bit shy at first but really opened up while we were talking and agreed for me to take some photos. 

While I was taking some photos we kept the conversation going. He told me he was a DJ back in the day and we realised he was the DJ at my parents wedding 20 years ago, it is a small world ! He explained to me how being a DJ works, how he made a playlist depending on the kind of night he was playing at and he was just so passionate about music. I stayed with him for a long time. 

I took some photos in the shop but also outside, posing and while him and his employee were working. 

I am considering this portrait for one o my 10 final images, even for one of my 5 prints. I think it is a very successful portrait, even the most successful for this whole project. The composition is good with a shallow depth field. It is sharp and has a lot of texture. It looks natural, he has little smile on his face which makes him look like a very nice man, which he is!

I would probably have to add a bit more contrast too make it have even more impact.
