Rachel - Violin

 Rachel - Violin

Above is a contact sheet of the photo I took of Rachel playing the violin in the streets, made using Bridge.

I was taking a walk in the city and I always had my camera with me, and the day I was really lad I did. I met Rachel who was playing the violin and I though her music was beautiful. I presented her my project and she asked me a lot of question about and was very interested. She accepted to get her photo taken and I'm very happy with the results.

There was a lot of people walking pass while I was taking photos of her, so `I had to be very careful of my surroundings so I didn't hurt anyone, Rachel or even myself and damage my camera.

I am considering this photo as one my 10 final images. Even though you can't see her eyes, there is no eye contact. I find it even more powerful that she is closing her eyes. She was feeling her music and it makes a strong image. The composition is also a strong element here, it is an usual one. The violin, slightly out of focus in the foreground leading up to her and the strong diagonal created by her bow.

The sunshine hitting her face is also a strong element of this picture, it's not the same kind of light as in Scotland. The sun was out and the light was hard and hitting her face, creating nice shadows too.
